A CLEAR TO CLOSE
Don't you just love to hear the words "clear to close'? It means that all of your hard work is about to pay off. It means that all conditions and contingencies have been satisfied. It means that you're one step closer to getting paid. It means that you're about to finish one chapter and start a new one...
Whenever you get a clear to close, remember to be thankful. It's great to get a ratified contract - especially your first one - but we still have to dot the I's and cross the T's to get to settlement. So many things can go wrong while you're in escrow that are beyond your control. Your buyer can go out and buy a car and ruin their pre-approval. Your sellers can decide to fight to save their marriage so they take their house off the market. The short sale approval can take too long, so the buyers decide to renew their lease and wait another year to purchase. A cloud on the title can delay settlement for months. So, again, whenever you get a clear to close, be thankful!
Remember, there's always something to learn from each transaction that we close. We have to be eager to evolve and to improve the level of service that we provide to our clients. With that in mind, make it a point to ask for honest and candid feedback from your clients post-settlement. Sometimes, you will hear something that you don't want to hear, and that's okay. It's uncomfortable and sometimes it can be upsetting but keep in mind that it's only going to help you to sharpen your sword and improve your level of service for your next clients. Always remember that real estate is a customer service based industry and we thrive off of referrals. Make sure that your clients have a reason to sing your praises because they will send referrals your way and you'll be hearing the words "clear to close" more often!
