THE WINNER'S CIRCLE
The taste of victory is so sweet. There's nothing better than setting a goal, doing the work to achieve said goal, then finishing strong! The NBA Finals that just wrapped yesterday proved this to be true. The underdog (albeit a team with a 2x Finals Champion starting as their superstar) won the series, against all odds!
So here's the thing - it's possible to win when you have the will to do so! You have to maintain a mindset that it won't be easy and that you may have to endure an arduous process to get to the finish line. Once you accept that pain, heartache, disappointment, sacrifice and possible turmoil and shame are a part of the process, you're more than halfway there!
Basketball and real estate are two totally different worlds but the same "will to win" attitude leads to success in both areas. Here's what you need to do...
1. Remain mentally strong! You have to stay laser focused and never complain. Complaining leads to defeat. You can only be responsible for you and your actions and behavior. So, no matter what the market dictates, how the interest rates rise, what training is available at the office, whether or not the lender or the title company returns your call, stop complaining and get to work! Life happens but you have to happen to life in order to be successful.
2. If your success is not matching up to your efforts, change your approach! Watch your film so to speak. What's working? What's not working? Be transparent with yourself. Instead of making excuses, make adjustments. Find your own niche. Maybe you're better with listings than you are with 1st Time Homebuyers. Maybe you know the DC market better than the PG County market so you should shift your efforts. Maybe you work better on a team than you do on your own. Maybe the hours you commit to your full time job are taking away from the success you could be having as a full time agent instead. Do an analysis of your business and figure out where you need to make adjustments.
There's so much power in being optimistic instead of pessimistic. A positive mindset will take you to where you want to be in this business, as long as you're willing to put in the work!
